Carlo Ancelotti to stick with Neymar despite injury for FIFA World Cup 2026

The star forward last played for the Selecao in October 2023.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil national football team are all set to take on Egypt and Panama ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This is going to be a perfect opportunity for the Selecao. They will be looking to sort their strategies.

The Ancelotti-led side are not in a top run of form at the moment. This is only going to make things tough for them on the grandest stage of them all. The final list of players to represent Brazil has also been unveiled.

Stars like fan favourite Neymar, Vini Jr., Raphinha and others will be looking to help their national side secure the prestigious title for the sixth time. A Selecao last lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2002. Since then, their performances have not been up to the mark in the competition.

They will be looking to develop stronger strategies this time around to perform better. After Brazil’s final squad announcement, Neymar suffered an injury. It put his FIFA World Cup participation in jeopardy.

Neymar to stay in Carlo Ancelotti’s team despite injury scare

The addition of Neymar to the Brazil national football team for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is going to be important due to his experience and skills on the field. Carlo Ancelotti has now shared an update regarding the 34-year-old, who is not fully fit as of now.

Brazil’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti said, “We expect Neymar to be back in the first game vs Morocco or eventually on the following game. We will NOT change anyone. The chosen players are these and I don’t change plans. All these 26 will play the World Cup.”

Recent MRI scans revealed that Neymar is currently suffering from a grade two muscle injury in his calf. He is currently being treated and might soon return to action.
