Chelsea are 11th in Premier League this season
The major fan supporters of Chelsea claim that the team is in danger of turning into a “laughing stock.” In addition, the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust reminded the owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbhali in a scathing letter that irrespective of the outcome, they risked fostering an environment of “irreversible toxicity.”
The Premier League table currently has Mauricio Pochettino’s squad wallowing at number eleven. In recent weeks, players, notably Raheem Sterling, the chairman Boehly, and the head manager have all faced abuse from the spectators.
However, the CST stated that there are currently more than £1 billion in squad investments and controversial decisions to increase matchday and retail pricing. “A widespread and significant lack of belief in the decision-makers at the top of our club.”
Additionally, the fan club accused Boehly and director Eghbali of breaching promises in a four-page letter, which they wrote. “The current mood amongst supporters is critically low and cannot be ignored. The feeling that the club has become a ‘laughing stock’, both on and off the pitch, is growing.

“The CST regretfully believes that we are close to, if not already experiencing, a significant shift in supporter opinion that could result in irreversible toxicity, almost irrespective of results on the pitch.”
They have issued a warning that there are going to be “more targeted chanting” during future games and “quite possibly more organised, overt” protests “unless the situation improves.”The main source of the CST’s worries is their perception that the team has made a U-turn in an effort to increase commercial earnings before asking supporters for more money. The cost of merchandise, bus transportation to away games, and food and drink at Stamford Bridge have all increased, and discussions over raising ticket costs are still underway.
The letter, which was sent on March 8, said: “When you began your stewardship of Chelsea FC, you communicated to supporters that you would look to grow every commercial revenue stream and double the income to bring us in line with other major Premier League clubs. We were informed that only once all commercial revenue streams were exhausted would the club hit the pockets of the supporters.”
