Chelsea will have to find a sponsor next season

An initial glimpse at the likely Chelsea home shirt design for the 2024–25 campaign has surfaced online thanks to image leaks. The current jersey was not released until late in the summer, but early leaks indicate a significant change.

The Blues are still wearing a sleek, simple top this season that has no texture or design, thanks to Nike. The main feature was the monochrome emblem, which was paired with enormous white patches under the arms to evoke recollections of 1990s shirts.

But the giants of sportswear have a history of making daring choices, and it appears they have done so again with this one. Images of the royal blue home shirt with watery lines across the arms and chest and bright, jagged stripes can be found on X (previously known as Twitter). The front plate also has a range of oval-shaped patterns. There are also a few lighter blue, nearly sky-blue, wavy patches that cross the top.

But the most striking addition is definitely the orange line on the sleeve. In addition to a blue slick, the vivid orange flash gives a striking pop of colour.

Early versions of the white away jersey, which has a nice blue collar evoking the England kits and a chest with identical designs and texture, involve red rings on the sleeves rather than orange ones. The away shirt’s badge has a red outline as well. The Nike emblem also features a blue fill surrounded by a blood-red border.

The Infinite Athlete brand front-of-shirt advertising is also featured on this eye-catching new top, though it is not yet certain that it will take central stage on the new uniform. Next year, Chelsea may still wear the company’s logo as a sleeve sponsor because Riyadh Air is reportedly still vying for first place.

Fans couldn’t officially purchase the shirt until three days after Chelsea’s opening-day tie against Liverpool, and the team didn’t publicly announce their big front-of-shirt sponsorship contract until the season had started. Early responses to this early release have been mixed.
