The Blues are already dealing with plenty of injuries.
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been dropped from the Argentina squad due to a knee injury.
The Chelsea midfielder is going to miss the world champions’ next game against Puerto Rico, after playing 78 minutes of their 1-0 victory against Venezuela in a friendly on Friday.
Fernandez has started all of Chelsea’s matches this season, including their matchup with League One side Lincoln City in the EFL Cup.
However, the 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the UEFA Champions League despite having three goals and one assist in seven Premier League outings.
Fernandez will be evaluated at the Cobham training facility
Enzo Fernandez will hope to be fit for Enzo Maresca’s team’s home games against Ajax and Sunderland, as well as their first trip to Nottingham Forest following the October international break.
Fernandez will now go through medical evaluations at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility after leaving the Argentina camp. It will be completed before their Premier League matchup with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Chelsea will travel to face Nottingham Forest, who are managed by Ange Postecoglou, for their first game following the international break. The Blues are currently seventh in the league with only three wins in seven games.
Enzo Maresca will undoubtedly have a strategy in place to make the required adjustments if they become necessary, even though the extent of his injury has not yet been confirmed.
The midfielder has made more appearances this season than any other outfield player under Enzo Maresca, according to Sky Sports. In ten starts across all categories, he has accumulated 860 minutes. For Maresca, his absence would be yet another setback.
How long does it take to recover from a swollen knee?
It depends on the severity of the knee injury. It could take weeks to months.
Will Fernandez be available for the next Chelsea game?
The player will undergo scans that will reveal his availability.
When are Chelsea playing next?
They are playing on the 18th of October against Nottingham Forest.
