The Portuguese midfielder will leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

Bernardo Silva, a midfielder for Manchester City, will depart the team when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, according to assistant Pep Lijnders.

Only five players at City have played more than 3,000 minutes in all competitions this season, including Bernardo Silva, who turns 32 in August.

He is still an important member of Pep Guardiola’s team. But after nine fruitful years at the Etihad, he is reportedly eager for a fresh challenge.

Bernardo Silva has long been connected to the growing, ambitious world of Major League Soccer, where he might be allowed to follow in the footsteps of players like Lionel Messi, Son Heung-min, Thomas Müller, and Antoine Griezmann in bringing his skills to the United States.

Silva’s goals will determine a lot. Although MLS is competitive, it lacks the appeal of UEFA competition, which is frequently too intense for players from Europe. He may still believe that he has many more years to enjoy the Champions League in his early 30s.

Now that the door is open, Benfica are reportedly eager to give Silva the opportunity to add to the 31 minutes he played for his childhood team prior to his breakthrough transfer to AS Monaco in 2014. That emotional component is unmatched by any other club.

According to rumours in Portugal, Silva is not actively considering a return to Benfica, despite his public declarations to the contrary.

Juventus, the masters of free transfers, offer lots of glitz and glamour as well as the opportunity to continue competing for the top spot in a prestigious European league at a wage commensurate with his calibre.

A transfer to Juventus will probably be appealing to Bernardo Silva if he wants to keep competing at the top level, even though this Bianconeri team isn’t as strong as it once was. After finishing third in 2023–2024 and fourth last season, they are fighting to make it into the Champions League once more.

Being one of the top teams in the world at the moment, Barcelona may not need to match the money offered elsewhere, even though they are unlikely to be able to.

Even though there isn’t a clear gap on Barcelona’s roster for Bernardo Silva to fill, a move to a consistent favourite in both LaLiga and the Champions League makes a lot of sense. This is only if Silva wants to fight for championships at the top level.
