Argentina are the reigning champions of Copa America

Copa America 2024 is rapidly approaching, marking the return of South America’s top competition to the United States.

With the inclusion of six CONCACAF countries in the competition, CONMEBOL has once again sought to expand its reach.

Where Copa America 2024 will take place?

This year’s Copa America 2024, which is being hosted in the USA will take place from June 20 to July 14.

Ecuador was supposed to host the 2024 Copa América because of CONMEBOL’s host rotation schedule.[6] Alejandro Domínguez, the president of CONMEBOL, stated that Ecuador had been considered to host the tournament but hadn’t yet been selected. The nation declined to host the event in November 2022. The US and Peru had both indicated interest in putting on the competition.

Six CONCACAF visiting teams that qualified by winning the 2023–24 CONCACAF Nations League will play in the tournament, which will be hosted in the United States as part of the new strategic collaboration between CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, as announced on January 27, 2023. In addition, the competition serves as a warm-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico are jointly hosting.

As a prelude to the United States hosting the 2026 World Cup, the 2024 Copa America will unite North and South America for a unique CONMEBOL continental tournament.The Copa America, which is being held in the United States of America, will include six visitors from North America who will be vying for the title of continental champion against the traditional ten South American countries.

In an effort to provide a serious challenge before the 2026 FIFA tournament is held in their backyard, the North American confederation has invited the likes of USA, Mexico, and Jamaica to compete in a 16-team competition. Lionel Messi and the reigning champions Argentina and world-class football power Brazil will have to navigate this competition.

The Copa America 2024 teams have been confirmed. This comes after the CONCACAF Nations League concluded on Sunday. Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Canada have now verified their attendance at the competition.

Ten South American nations will compete in the competition, which takes place from June 20 to July 14. Six guests from North America will also be present. The trophy is currently in the possession of Argentina.
