Cristiano Ronaldo calls Ballon d'Or awards 'fictitious'

The Portuguese star gave his opinion on the award’s value.
Cristiano Ronaldo has called the coveted award “fictitious” and declined to get involved in another Ballon d’Or argument.
Throughout his record-breaking career, the Portuguese superstar has raised the recognisable Golden Ball five times. While playing for Real Madrid, the most recent of those victories was in 2017.
With five Ballon d’Or victories, Ronaldo is the second most decorated player in the history of the award, only surpassed by Lionel Messi‘s eight. He has, however, been outspoken in recent years in challenging the award’s impartiality after losing out on the nominations.
Three of Ronaldo’s international teammates, Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Nuno Mendes of Paris Saint-Germain, are among the class of 2025’s hopefuls who dare to hope of adding their names to the list of Ballon d’Or winners.
The Portuguese striker denied that the prize always represents genuine athletic achievement when he was informed that three of his countrymen, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, and Vitinha, all of whom play for Paris Saint-Germain, were among the nominees.

Ronaldo downplays the award’s worth, calling the prize ‘fictitious’
Ronaldo was hesitant to talk about their claims to be the world’s finest player. When asked about the Ballon d’Or, the legendary Al-Nassr striker told SportTV reporters:
“That’s fictitious to me.”
Ronaldo then quickly walked away, avoiding any more conversation on the topic. In the Middle East, he recently agreed to a new deal that would extend his stay in the Saudi Pro League till 2027.
