Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi record after turning 30

Both have continued to show their goalscoring form even after reaching their 30s.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi keep breaking records and defying ageing. Messi took a well-earned vacation much earlier than Ronaldo in 2024. The latter’s incredible goal-scoring record since turning 30 has been bolstered by his latest goal against Al-Ittihad.

Ronaldo, who is 39 years old, has already scored 453 goals, 16 more than he did before turning 30. In contrast, Messi had 565 goals prior to the age of 30, and he has now scored 309 goals after that.

Messi does, however, have a tiny lead when considering their overall scoring progression. Ronaldo had 820 goals at that age, whereas Messi had 850 goals before he reached 37, surpassing Ronaldo’s goal total at the same age (37).

Messi and Ronaldo have both scored a good number of goals this season, making them both prolific scorers. The rivalry between these two football icons continues to captivate fans worldwide as they push the sport’s limits. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are responsible for the game’s change, according to striker Harry Kane.

Ronaldo is only 84 goals away from hitting the 1,000-goal mark in his career, despite his declaration that he is no longer interested in doing so. He could accomplish that in two more seasons if he keeps up his current pace.

However, he said, “Now I face my life living in the moment,” after accepting the Quinas de Platina trophy, the highest honour given to players by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). I’ve lost the ability to think long-term.

With Messi’s season already over after Inter Miami were eliminated from the MLS Cup, he will now rest until the start of the new season. Ronaldo’s season also got over after seeing out a 2-1 defeat against Al-Ittihad. The forward will be looking to once again score more goals in 2025.

His brace against Al Qadsiah FC underlined that the 39-year-old still is peak of his goalscoring form and maybe he could be looking to reach the 1000-goal mark.
