In their challenging search for a new permanent manager, Bayern Munich had discussions with Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace.

To continue leading the Austrian national team, Ralf Rangnick has previously turned down a transfer to the Allianz Arena. Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen are apparently not going to complete his summer transfer to Bavaria. Sky claims that the Bayern hierarchy entertained Glasner’s candidature before deciding to go with Hansi Flick.

Bayern are eager to find a new manager after Thomas Tuchel’s confirmed exit after the season in February. There were talks between Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund and former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Glasner. But reportedly, Palace stated unequivocally that Glasner would not be given clearance.

With Glasner taking over for Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, the team has undergone a remarkable transformation. Since the 49-year-old Austrian took over as head coach, the Eagles have only lost fewer games than Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Eagles won their fifth game in their previous six outings, which included a 4-0 thumping of Manchester United, on Saturday, going up 3-1 at Wolves.

Glasner appears content and successful in south London, suggesting that Flick will soon return to Bayern. The 59-year-old had a difficult time leading Germany and was fired in September of last year due to a poor run of performances; yet, he had great success at Bayern in his prior tenure, winning the triple in 2019–20.

Along with Glasner, two other well-known figures who have turned down Bayern negotiations are Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen and Ralf Rangnick, the manager of the Austrian national team and a former Manchester United player.

The German Giants have been searching desperately for an alternative for Thomas Tuchel, who will not win a title in an entire season for the first time since the 2011–12 campaign.
