This is a must-win game for Czechia, who dropped points against South Africa despite taking the lead early. Anything other than a win would prove fatal to their knockout hopes. They are led by Miroslav Koubek, who has previously been at the helm of Slavia Praha before taking on the reins of Czechia national team.

Talking about hosts, Mexico were one of the first teams to book their spot in the knockout with two consecutive wins over South Africa and South Korea. The game’s result would hardly have any impact on their qualification and standings as they are bound to finish atop Group A.

Czechia vs Mexico: Head-to-Head

These two sides have met each other only once. It was almost two and a half decades ago when a neutral venue in a different continent, the Hong Kong Stadium geared up to host the first and only encounter between these two sides in 2000.

Manuel Lapuente was leading Mexico and Manuel Lapuente was the head coach of Czechia. The game had no goals till the first half but no one saw three goals coming in the second half.

Michal Kolomaznik broke the deadlock in the 50th minute and in quick succession, Czechia were two goals up after Pavel Verbir made it 2-0 in the 55th minute.

In the last 10 minutes, Mexico earned a penalty and Miguel Zepeda scored that one. Maybe there was some late drama but there were no more goals and Czechia won it 2-1 against Mexico.
