David Beckham's son Romeo retires from football at 22
Romeo Beckham had been playing for the Bees B team after leaving Inter Miami II.
David Beckham’s son Romeo James Beckham has made a decision to leave Brentford despite being offered a new contract. He is set to pursue his career in fashion. The son of the former Manchester United player was offered a deal in June to stay with their B team.
Romeo joined the Bees after leaving Inter Miami, his dad’s US Major League Soccer team. The 22-year-old who once was named Britain’s 26th best-dressed man in 2011 and also appeared for the Burberry campaign aged just ten has now opted to leave the English club.
A source said: “Romeo has decided to hang up his football boots and devote his time to his fashion career.
“He has loved his time at Brentford but needs to focus his attention on fashion, which is where his passion lies.’
“Romeo has recently signed with a top fashion agent in Paris and has his sights set on working with some massive brands.”
The fashion enthusiast was once called by his dad ‘the fashion one’ – landed a £1.2million deal to be the face of Puma in 2021.
Romeo has appeared in many magazines. He was the youngest model to feature for Yves Saint Laurent. He even was the cover model of L’Uomo Vogue in 2021. Even though he has left, he will continue to work with Brentford Penguins, a team that works for players aged five and above with Down syndrome.
The club was established by ex-footie pro Allan Cockram, who later received the Unsung Hero award at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins last year. Brentford Penguins are based at the Gtech Community Stadium in West London.
When Romeo signed for Brentford B team, it was mainly due to his football ability and not his father’s influence in the sport. It was revealed by the Bees’ director of football, Phil Giles.
Given the legacy of David Beckham, it was expected that one of his kids would become a football player. But it seems like they (kids) have already decided on their future. His other son Brooklyn Beckham is a wannabe chef on social media.
