David de Gea fires shot at Spanish outlet after publication suggests former Man United star to try only-fans
David de Gea has been without a club since leaving United
David de Gea took to Instagram to the latest rumours of a Spanish news outlet headline read as ”the Spanish goalkeeper who could pocket more than two million a month on only-fans” The former Manchester United posted the screenshot of the photo on his social media app story and captioned it with “I’m just wasting my time”
The former United goalkeeper has been without a club since leaving the Red Devils last season. Man United wanted to sign an upgrade on the Spanish goalkeeper and brought in Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
However, it appears to have already passed—at least for the numerous supporters who publicly requested his comeback on social media.
Since departing Manchester United in the summer of the year after his contract ended, De Gea has been seeking a team to play for. There were reports in the summer transfer window as well as in the winter transfer window for a possible move to his home country or Saudi Arabia.
De Gea wants to stay in Spain, where he has continued his training regimen, despite recent attention from the Premier League and throughout the globe.
The former Man United goalie is one of the best in the business. However, he is failing to attract attraction due to his high wages and playing style. David is not a goalkeeper who is good with passing the ball like other modern-day goalkeepers do. He is more of a shot-stopper and made a reputation for himself by making some big saves for United.

De Gea is determined to complete his career in his home nation of Spain, where he started it. There were plenty of clubs he was linked with a move to but there hasn’t been a concrete interest from the clubs and now it remains to be seen if the goalie will return to play football again.
Even after winning the Golden Glove in the Premier League the previous year, De Gea was still shown the door. The shot stopper had only previously won the honour once, during the 2017–18 campaign.
During his time at United, the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper was criticised for his ball distribution which didn’t fit into the Ten Hag system which led to the club looking for a new goalkeeper.
Plenty of sources have even said that De Gea would retire if he can’t find the kind of challenge he still wants. Few clubs, if any, could match his peak weekly salary of £375,000 from his tenure at United, much less one custodian approaching his twilight years.
There are plenty of chances that David De Gea might join a club next summer. Some big clubs might slot him in as a second-choice goalkeeper.
