One of the emotional moments during the national anthem of Portugal was captured as late Diogo Jota’s parents were spotted in the stands. They are here to honour their son and support the Portugal national football.
They were also spotted celebrating after Joao Neves scored the opening goal of the game.
Diogo Jota lost his life on July 3, 2025, after a tragic car accident. The Portuguese side is also wearing a special band on their hands in which Jota’s name is engraved, along with other team members performing at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
One of Portugal’s legends, Pepe, was also spotted in the stands. He competed in 141 games for Selecao das Quinas and is considered as one of the best centre-backs to ever play the game.
