The World Cup final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
United States President Donald Trump will present the trophy to the winner of the FIFA World Cup 2026. This was confirmed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who will join Trump in handing over the trophy to the tournament champions.
“We will be together with the president (Trump), enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said in an interview with Fox & Friends. “We are together all the time.”
This is a departure from the usual FIFA protocol. Infantino alone presented the trophy to the winning team in the 2014 and 2018 editions. His predecessor, Sepp Blatter, also followed the same practice.
However, before that, heads of state have handed over the World Cup trophy to the winners on two occasions. England’s Queen Elizabeth II gave the trophy to England captain Bobby Moore in 1966. Spain’s King Juan Carlos presented the trophy to Italy captain Dino Zoff in 1982.

Trump’s Club World Cup fiasco

This will be the second time that the USA president has been tasked with presenting a FIFA trophy to the champions. He was the one who presented the FIFA Club World Cup trophy to Chelsea last year after the English Premier League side beat Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
However, the 80-year-old politician refused to leave the stage after handing over the trophy. This led to the unusual situation of him taking part in the Chelsea players’ celebrations. It is unclear if Trump will repeat this stunt during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, which will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Interestingly, the president has not been in attendance for either of the USA’s group-stage games in the tournament so far.
