After losing the game, Newcastle were hit with more blow with several injuries.
According to the Magpies manager, Eddie Howe, Newcastle United are under an increased injury crisis after their scathing 3-2 loss to Liverpool at St. James’ Park on Monday night.
After Anthony Gordon was sent off in the first half, the Toons were reduced to 10 men, but they still fought valiantly.
With goals from Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool appeared to be in total control, but Newcastle rallied with goals from Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula, a replacement.
Rio Ngumoha, 16, crushed Geordie hearts with a calm victory for the visitors in stoppage time, just when a historic comeback seemed feasible. Newcastle’s setback was made much more disappointing by a slew of injuries.
Eddie Howe updates on Newcastle’s injury problems

During the second half, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, and Fabian Schar were all substituted out, and Howe seemed wary of their situation.
“To come away with nothing, plus injuries, suspensions and concussions, it’s a pretty bad day,” the Newcastle boss said (via beIN SPORTS).
“Sandro doesn’t look good. He was in quite a bit of pain. I don’t know the full extent of his or Joelinton’s injuries.”
Schar, meanwhile, had a concussion and will need to undergo required testing before he is allowed to return. The loss of Brazilian player Joelinton and Tonali in midfield is made worse by his absence.
Gordon’s suspension following his red card means he will miss their matchup with Leeds United.
“It’s a big blow,” Howe added. “I thought there was no intent. From what I saw, he was trying to pull out of the tackle.”
