The Magpies have an ongoing injury crisis.
It was âreally distressingâ to watch defender Tino Livramento being taken off on a stretcher during Newcastleâs 2-1 Premier League loss to Arsenal, reveals Eddie Howe.
Late in the game, the England full-back jumped for a header with William Saliba, a defender for Arsenal, but landed awkwardly.
Howe reveals what injury Tino Livramento has suffered
Howe reveals Livramento has sustained a knee injury:
âHeâs such a big player for us in so many different ways â his versatility, his attitude, his quality,â Howe said. If weâre going to miss that for any length of time, it is going to be a huge blow.â
âIt doesnât sound great,â Howe told BBC Match of the Day. âThe fact he came off on a stretcher is not looking good.â
To add to the Newcastleâs worries, Livramento sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2022 while playing for Southampton, which kept him out for a year.
Other Newcastle injury updates
However, the Magpies anticipate some good news regarding injuries in the days ahead. For Sundayâs game, Newcastle were missing Lewis Hall, Fabian Schar, Jacob Ramsey, and Yoane Wissa.
Schar is ready for Wednesdayâs Champions League match against Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium after completing his 12-day concussion protocol period, while Wissa and Ramsey are not anticipated to return until after the international break.
After getting some rest due to exhaustion against Arsenal, Hall is also anticipated to rejoin the matchday squad on Wednesday night. Following a protracted injury layoff, the 21-year-old started two games in four days against Bradford and Bournemouth.

How long will the play be out?
The timeline for his return has not been revealed as of right now.
