Egypt starting lineup vs New Zealand confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 clash

All Whites have never secured a win against the Pharaohs.

Egypt are all set to return to action for their second group stage outing of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They will go head-to-head against the New Zealand national football team at BC Place Vancouver.

The Pharaohs will be looking for their first win in the mega competition this year. They were held to a 1-1 draw by the Belgian Red Devils in their previous group stage game. The Egyptian national football team did put up a strong fight against Belgium, but it was not quite enough. They will now be pushing for a win against New Zealand.

All Whites are coming in after securing a 2-2 draw against Iran in their opening game of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The second game on the grandest stage of them all is not going to be an easy one for them. Egypt have some quality players in their squad and New Zealand will be led by Chris Wood.

Thoughts on the lineup

Mostafa Shobeir is going to be between the sticks. Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Hamdy Fathy and Ahmed Fotouh will be the important men in the defence.

Mohamed Salah will don the captain’s armband for the Egypt national football team at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Omar Marmoush is going to be the sole striker up front. Mostafa Ziko and Emam Ashour will be at the flanks.

Establishing control in the midfield is going to be important for the Pharaohs. Marwan Attia and Mohanad Lasheen will be the main men in the midfield.
