This edition’s FIFA World Cup will be the first to be hosted by three host nations. It will also be the first time 48 nations will take part in this competition, as FIFA expanded it from 32.

It is being jointly hosted by 16 cities, eleven in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada. Many nations will make their debut in this iconic edition of the World Cup. Here we take a look at the 2026 FIFA World Cup fixtures, schedule, timing and telecast details:

The group stage of this tournament will start on June 11 and will end on June 27. The countries are divided into twelve groups of four teams, with teams in each group playing one another in a round robin format. The top two from each group will make it into the knockout rounds, and the top eight third-place finishers will also make it into the next round.

Group A

Mexico, South Africa, Korea Republic and the Czech Republic are part of this group. Mexico are clear favourites to win this group, South Africa failed to qualify for previous editions of the World Cup, and are now back in the competition. On the other hand, the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic will surely put up a great challenge in the group games.

Group B

Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Switzerland are in Group B. Canada is the joint host of this tournament for the first time. Bosnia, for the first time in its history, qualified for the World Cup. Qatar who hosted last year’s tournament are also part of this edition’s competition, and Switzerland is also back in action.

Group C

Brazil, Morocco, Haiti and Scotland are placed together in Group C. The five-time World Cup winners will be aiming to get their sixth title; on the other hand, last year’s World Cup star team, Morocco, will hope to perform similarly this time. Haiti will make their first-ever World Cup appearance, and Scotland will also aim to qualify for the knockout stages.

Group D

USA, Paraguay, Australia and Turkey are placed in Group D. This group will be a very competitive one for sure. Paraguay qualified for this tournament after 2010; on the other hand, the USA will hope to finish at the top of the table. Australia had a great tournament in the 2022 edition, and hopes to have a better one this time. Turkey, after disappointment in the Euros, will hope to do well in the World Cup.

Group E

Germany, Curacao, the Ivory Coast and Ecuador will be competing against each other for the top two spots. This will be Curacao’s first-ever appearance in the World Cup. Germany will be hungry to get their fifth title, Ivory Coast and Ecuador will be sides who are capable enough to make things complicated in this group.

Group F

Netherlands, Japan, Sweden and Tunisia are in Group F, and without any doubt, this is one of the toughest and most competitive groups. Fine margins will decide who will go to the next rounds and who will be out. Japan has improved a lot in the last few years and will be a tough side to beat. The Netherlands were really good in the last World Cup but were out in the Quarter-Finals. Sweden and Tunisia are quality sides who will give tough competition to the other two teams.

Group G

Belgium, Egypt, Iran and New Zealand are grouped in group G. Iran’s situation in the World Cup is a bit complicated due to the Visa issues and ongoing issues with the USA. Belgium are clear favourites to win this group, but Egypt and New Zealand can cause upsets and make things difficult for them.

Group H

Spain, Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay are in Group H. The battle for the top two spots will be clearly for Spain and Uruguay. Saudi Arabia does have the quality to make an upset, but they will hope to perform well this time. On the other hand, Cape Verde will play their first-ever World Cup. Spain goes into this edition’s World Cup as one of the favourites.

Group I

France, Senegal, Iraq and Norway are placed in this group. Norway had a brilliant qualification campaign, and they will be very confident of going into this competition. Iraq, after 1986, they have made it into the World Cup and will hope to have a great tournament. France are clear favourites to win this group, as well as the World Cup. Senegal, who controversially won the AFCON and later had the title stripped from them, will hope to perform well at the World Cup.

Group J

Argentina, Algeria, Austria and Jordan are in Group J. The defending champions will hope to defend their title this time. Jordan will make thier first ever appearance in the World Cup, Austria are a side who will hope to make it into the next rounds. Algeria, after missing out on the 2018 and 2022 edition are back in action this time

Group K

Portugal, DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia are in Group K. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side recently won the UEFA Nations League and are one of the favourites to win this World Cup. DR Congo will be back in the World Cup after a long time, and it will be Uzbekistan’s first ever World Cup.

Group L

England, Croatia, Ghana and Panama are in the last group, which is Group L. The Three Lions, led by Thomas Tuchel, will be very optimistic about their performance in the World Cup for sure. On the other hand, Croatia have done a great job in the last two World Cups and will hope to do it again. Ghana and Panama will surely compete very much for the third-place spot.
