The USMNT finished top of Group D.

The United States menโ€™s soccer team (USMNT) fell 3-2 to Turkey in the 2026 World Cup. But they will still proceed to the Round of 32 after winning two games in their group.

The United States menโ€™s team established an early lead at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, scoring inside three minutes. But Crescent-Stars responded minutes later with their first goal of the 2026 World Cup. They eventually took the lead.

The United States rallied from behind once more, only for Turkey to triumph in injury time.

Turkey finally opened their FIFA World Cup 2026 account. It was none other than their star player, Arda Guler. He gave them the goal they were starving for since starting the competition.

Even though Turkey have been eliminated, they can take some solace from this win. Even though the USA first broke the deadlock, Turkey managed to find the way back into the game. Guler was the man to score their first-ever goal in the 2026 World Cup.

3. Turkey scored their first World Cup 2026 goal

Turkey finally netted their first-ever goal in the FIFA World Cup 2026. This comes after they failed to convert 62 shots into a single goal in their last two World Cup games.

In the game against the USA, they were at their clinical best; they converted their first two shots against the USA into goals.

2. Arda Guler becomes the youngest Turkish to score in the World Cup

Arda Gulerโ€™s goal against the USA wasnโ€™t only Turkeyโ€™s first goal in the competition. The goal also made him the youngest Turkish player to score a goal at the age of 21 years 120 days.

He surpassed Emre BelรถzoฤŸlu (21 years 275 days vs Costa Rica) to become the youngest Turkish footballer to score in World Cup history. Even though he is leaving the competition early, Guler hopes to return in the next World Cup and lead them further in the tournament.
