Equatorial Guinea confirm squad for AFCON 2025

The National Thunder get ready for the competition.

Equatorial Guinea head coach Juan Micha has confirmed his final squad ahead of the AFCON 2025. It consists of many overseas and local league-level players.

This will be Equatorial Guinea’s fifth appearance in the competition. They have not yet won the tournament. However, their best performances in the event have come in 2012, 2021 and 2015.

In the 2012 and 2021 competitions, they went all the way to the quarterfinals, defying the odds as a small nation on the continent, while in 2015, they managed to finish fourth.

They have mainly failed to go deeper in the competition because of their inability to perform under pressure. They have always succumbed under pressure during the crunch moments.

However, the 2025 competition will be another chance for them to display their credentials in the competition. It is certain, they will face plenty of obstacles as their group is also filled with many top nations.

Equatorial Guinea’s group consist of Burkina Faso, Sudan and Algeria. It will be a tricky group stage for them as Algeria will pose a big danger, while they can undoubtedly go head-to-head with the other two nations.

Their head coach has opted for a blend of youth and experienced stars in the squad who will carry the expectations of the nation in the event.
