Zimbabwe announce squad for AFCON 2025; Marshall Munetsi & Khama Billiat left out

The Warriors have named their final squad for the competition.

Mario Marinică, the head coach of Zimbabwe’s national team, has revealed his final 27-man roster for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. However, two of the nation’s most well-known players, Marshall Munetsi and Khama Billiat, have not been called up.

The Warriors will have a difficult group stage battle while they return to AFCON with newfound ambition. They will play Egypt on December 22, Angola on December 26, and their rivals in the region, South Africa, on December 29 in what is expected to be one of the competition’s best games.

Marinică’s team reflects a rebuild focused on energy, discipline, and tactical balance by combining dependable veterans with up-and-coming youth.

The seasoned goalkeepers Washington Arubi, Elvis Chipezeze, and Martin Mapisa make up a solid trio that can handle AFCON’s high-stress situations.

Zimbabwe have a point to prove going into AFCON 2025. The Warriors’ resilience will be put to the test when they play Egypt, Angola, and South Africa. Marinică’s team is based on cohesion and strategic clarity.

The Warriors supporters will be hoping that the chosen bunch can step up and make an impact on the continental scene in spite of their shortage of talent, like Munetsi and Billiat.
