Real Madrid previously wanted to sign Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, still envisions himself playing for Real Madrid in the future, per AS.
That dream has been postponed by Kylian Mbappe’s anticipated free agent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Los Blancos; Haaland had initially intended to sign with the Spanish powerhouse in 2025.
Although that has ceased to be the situation, the 23-year-old still aspires to play for Real Madrid and believes that City’s matchup with Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the Champions League quarterfinals will be the ideal venue for him to demonstrate his abilities in preparation for a potential transfer. Haaland played the entire 90 minutes in both of Madrid’s semifinal matches from the previous season, however, he was scoreless in both.
Even though Haaland’s current contract expires in 2027, Man City is currently moving quickly to extend it. According to reports, the Norway international’s contract has a €200 million departure clause that might enable him to depart this summer.
Rafaela Pimenta, his agent, aims for a comparable clause to be a part of another agreement so that he is able to join Los Blancos. Although Haaland’s contract has no explicit language about Pep Guardiola, the future of the Spaniard may have an effect on the player who scores the majority of his goals.

How Real Madrid would be able to make it work financially is another important factor that might keep the Spanish powerhouses from signing both Mbappe and Haaland.
The 23-year-old has been pursued by La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid, and rumour has it that he may have a release clause in his agreement with the club that may be activated by teams outside of England in the summer of 2024.
It is unclear, though, if Los Blancos are interested in shelling out an absurd £200 million ($252 million) for the Cityzens player after acquiring Kylian Mbappe, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, who is expected to sign with the team when he becomes a free agency in the summer.
Haaland is still concentrating on his work at City for the time being, and he will be back in action for Pep Guardiola’s team on Sunday against Arsenal.
