Kylian Mbappe will be prepared to be France’s best player once again.

Many bookmakers had France as the second-best option to win Euro 2024, while some currently have them tied for first place with England.

At least in this writer’s opinion, France are the team that could prevail this summer. Although Kylian Mbappe is a part of their team and may not have nearly as much star power as England’s, overall, it is more well-rounded.

It is true that throughout the Didier Deschamps era, France haven’t played a lot of free-flowing, innovative football. France had barely 38 per cent of the ball in the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finals against a counterattacking Morocco team.

Les Bleus won’t be the shining star at Euro 2024, for anyone. However, as we have observed at past competitions, that does not imply they won’t be close by.

Although Poland and the Netherlands are in this group, Austria would have preferred to be placed in an easier one, but nobody should discount them.

Three key battles that may decide Austria vs France Euro 2024 clash

3. Marcel Sabitzer vs Antoine Griezmann

The most of any Austrian player, Sabitzer contributed to six goals in seven matches during the Euro 2024 qualifying round (four goals, two assists). He is expected to be one of the most influential players in the Euro. In the match against France, he may face Griezmann, who will orchestrate the midfield and provide assists to the strikers for France. There will be a thrilling fight between these two top players.

2. Kylian Mbappe vs Stefan Posch

According to Didier Deschamps, Kylian Mbappe is prepared to lead from the front as France gets ready to take on Austria in their opening Euro 2024 match. Mbappe will always prioritise the team.

He will definitely take advantage of any space you offer him and if you leave him unmarked, he will exact revenge. Stefan Posch of Austria will bear these points in mind when facing the most dangerous player in France.

1. Michael Gregoritsch  vs Dayot Upamecano

Michael Gregoritsch didn’t have much of an impact at the club level last season but he will look to find his form during the Euro. Hopefully, he’ll be ready to start for Austria at Euro 2024.

The striker will have an uphill battle against Dayot Upamecano when France and Austria square off. Michael Gregoritsch is a 6’4″ centre-forward and will need to perform at the highest level this time if he wants to disrupt French defenders during the match.
