PSG vs Lyon Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds
Pierre Sage’s men will look to end the hosts’ unbeaten record.
An invincible Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are set to host Olympique Lyonnais for their 15th Ligue 1 2024-25 game. While the hosts are leading in the points table, Lyon are also well-versed at the fifth spot. Both have three wins and two draws in their last five league games, so this is expected to be nothing short of a thriller.
Luis Enrique’s PSG are sailing fine, comfortable with the aim of defending the Ligue 1 title, they have 34 points from the 14 games, with 10 wins and four draws. They also happen to be the only unbeaten team in the league. However, things have been a bit carried away in the past two game weeks, facing two back-to-back draws against Nantes and Auxerre. So now they will surely be looking to get back to winning ways.
Olympique Lyonnais are also doing fine lately. They are in the fifth spot with 25 points, with seven wins, four draws, and three losses in 14 games. An away win will surely be on Pierre Sage’s mind, knowing PSG drew their past two games, but his squad are expected to be happy even with a draw.
Kick-Off:
Monday, December 16 at 01:15 AM IST
Location: Parc des Princes, Paris.
Form
Paris Saint Germain (in all competitions): W-D-D-L-W
Olympique Lyonnais (in all competitions): W-W-W-W-D
Players to Watch:
Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint Germain)
Surprisingly the PSG no. 10 has not started in all the games. In fact, in the 13 he played in Ligue 1, he started in eight and was used as a substitute in five. Fewer minutes on the field has not however reduced his impact. The skilful winger has five goals and six assists in the league already.
His electric pace and superb dribbling skills, matched with his goal-scoring prowess will be a dangerous mode for Lyon to deal with. However, he needs to give his best, otherwise he can be bullied.
Alexandre Lacazette (Olympique Lyonnais)
The veteran 33-year-old forward is leading the side from the front. In the last to last game, he scored a wonderful hat trick against OGC Nice. If he manages to show his lethal self in this game, Lyon can actually shock giants PSG with a win.
He needs to face a tough defence here, the toughest in the league, but his quality is unmatched. He has the potential to convert to something good, so all eyes will be supposedly on him.
