Euro 2024: Top six players with most goals

Europe’s pinnacle men’s international football tournament, Euro 2024 is coming to its business end. The month-long tournament held in Germany saw many heroics and upsets. While some heavyweights failed to put up a grand show, some underdogs made headlines.

This edition of the Euros has already witnessed 111 goals, averaging 2.27 goals per game and one goal every 40 minutes. Though the average is a bit lower than it was in Euro 2020, every single match appeared to be evenly poised except somewhere clear domination was on show.

Euro 2024 made us observe some big names failing to find the back of the net or have a clear impact in their matches while some unexpected names emerged as heroes. On that note, let’s have a look at the top six goal scorers in Euro 2024:

6. Jamal Musiala (3 goals)

The sensational 21-year-old Bayern Munich star has displayed a rockstar-like performance for Germany in Euro 2024. Jamal Musiala catered to the Germans from both wings whenever deemed necessary. 

He started in all five games, scoring three goals, and having a 27% goal participation for his nation. In the first two games, he struck one each from the right against Scotland and Hungary. He even scored the second goal against Denmark to seal Germany’s pre-quarters victory.

5. Ivan Schranz (3 goals)

The 30-year-old displayed a one-man show for Slovakia in the competition, scoring three goals in just four games. He constantly attacked from the right wing to shock the opponents.

He scored the winner against a formidable Belgium side in the opener. He even scored one each against Ukraine and the mighty England. He hails a massive 75% goal participation for his country. His heroics alone earned Slovakia a round-of-16 berth.

4. Georges Mikautazade (3 goals)

Not many would have imagined that a 23-year-old Georgia striker, Georges Mikautazade would be among the top goalscorers of Euro 2024. The lethal forward line player has raised everyone’s attention with his heroics. The FC Metz player is rumoured to join a big Ligue 1 or Premier League club.

In four games, he has three goals and one assist. In the group stage, he has scored a goal in every match. He even impressed everyone with his stellar performance against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, where he scored one and assisted one goal.

3. Harry Kane (3 goals)

The 30-year-old displayed good enough performances but nothing like his season with Bayern before Euro 2024. The England star still managed to score three goals in the competition, scoring those in six games. Gareth Southgate used him in his ideal position, the centre forward to shock the opponents.

Harry Kane scored the equaliser against the Netherlands in the semi-finals via a spot-kick. Later a 90-minute strike by Ollie Watkins helped them reach the finals where they are set to face Spain. So far, Kane has scored a goal each from his left foot, right foot and once from his head.

2. Dani Olmo (3 goals)

The ace Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo has impressed many with his skills and exceptional goal contributions in Euro 2024. Olmo never got full minutes in the games but has always somehow contributed to Spain’s all-win run.

He assisted once each against Morocco and Germany while scoring a goal in every knock-out game. Olmo has produced the maximum impact in the chances he got and has been a trump card for Luis de la Fuente.

1. Cody Gakpo (3 goals)

The Liverpool winger has surely turned out to be one of the most consistent players in Euro 2024. He has started in every game for the Netherlands, scoring three goals while assisting one. He has an enormous 44% goal participation for the Dutch side.

Attacking from the left, the 1.93m winger has scored a goal each against Poland, Austria and Belgium. He even provided a valuable assist in the round-of-16 match. Gakpo and Netherlands’ journey came to an end against England in the semi-final.
