Canada are playing against Switzerland without Ismaël Koné in the FIFA World Cup.
Canada are facing Switzerland in an action-packed, high-paced match at BC Place in Vancouver in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both sides are keen to win the last game of the group stage, as the victor will secure top spot in Group B.
As things stand, Les Rouges will top the group if they draw against Nati in the final group-stage game. However, both sides would like to carry the momentum into the knockout round of the 2026 World Cup.
Before the halftime break, Switzerland followed their high-pressing plan and dominated the co-hosts, maintaining majority possession. However, after the hydration break, Canada began to show aggressive intent. The co-hosts also had more shots on goal; however, courtesy of Gregor Kobel, they failed to break the deadlock in the first half.
Nevertheless, the Canadian fans did not forget to pay tribute to Canada’s No. 8, Ismaël Koné, who suffered a serious injury during the side’s last game.

During Canada’s last group-stage game against Switzerland on Wednesday, June 24, fans paid tribute to Ismaël Koné by holding up number 8 signs in the 8th minute. The tribute shows that the Canadian fans are standing alongside the 24-year-old attacker during this difficult time.
The Canadian striker broke his leg during the side’s last game in the tournament and was taken off the field on a stretcher. It all happened when he was tackled by Assim Madibo during the side’s 6-0 win over Qatar last week.
