Fluminense and Al Hilal secure spots in the last eight after shocking wins.
We got to experience some unbelievable results during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup round of 16. The clubs which were not expected to come out on top have shocked the world after their strong performances. The mega competition is only going to be more interesting to watch moving forward.
Now, only a couple of round of 16 fixtures are left to be played. It will be the LaLiga and European giants Real Madrid taking on the Italian side Juventus. The final match of the last 16 will be played between Borussia Dortmund and Monterrey. Both of these matches will be intense and the better side will go on to seal a spot in the quarter-final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
Even though Xabi Alonso has led Real Madrid as a head coach in just three matches, the players are looking comfortable under his strategy. Even without Kylian Mbappe, Los Blancos have managed to win a couple of matches in the Club World Cup this time around. It will be interesting to see how they perform today against the Serie A giants Juventus.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Borussia Dortmund looked good on the attacking front, but they have not been at their best in the Club World Cup. BVB have still managed a spot in the last 16 and they are going to have a banger of a fixture against Monterrey, which is going to be a tough game for them.
In an interesting turn of events, Inter Milan and Manchester City have been eliminated from the mega competition by Fluminense and Al Hilal, respectively. These results came out as big upsets and there are now a total of three non-European teams that have already sealed a spot in the quarter-final.
