As matchday 8 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has come to a close, it has become clearer now which teams still have a chance to make it to the knockout stage of the tournament. The top two teams from each group will go on to qualify for the round of 16 of the mega event.
Urawa Red Diamonds from Group E and Ulsan Hyundai from Group F have lost both of their games. Now, neither of them have a chance to get to the next stage of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
Inter Milan bagged the first win of their current Club World Cup campaign as they secured a win against Urawa Reds in a thrilling contest. However, Internazionale Milano still haven’t confirmed their spot in the round of 16.
The second fixture of Group E saw River Plate and Monterrey battle to a goalless draw. Rayados still haven’t won any of their matches in the current edition of the FIFA CWC. But they still have a chance to get to the next stage.
Group F produced some high-scoring fixtures, as Borussia Dortmund secured a 4-3 win against Mamelodi Sundowns and Fluminense stood tall against Ulsan HD by a scoreline of 4-2. Despite the loss, the Sundowns still have a chance to get to the next stage. But for Ulsan, there is no chance left.
It came out as another productive day for the teams under the extreme weather conditions of the United States of America. We have already seen some unexpected results in the mega competition. It will be interesting to see which teams will get to the next stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.
