Sweden and Japan drew on the final matchday!

The FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage is nearing its end, as the final rounds are being played across the 12 groups in the form of simultaneous double-headers. Netherlands took on Tunisia, and Japan faced Sweden on June 25, with the results dictating how Group F shaped up.

Netherlands sealed a dominant 3-1 win over Tunisia in Kansas City. An own goal from Ellyes Skhiri gave the Oranje the perfect start, and further strikes from Brian Brobbey and Jan Paul van Hecke sealed a comfortable win for Ronald Koeman’s men.

The result ensured that the European giants finished as the group winners. It also condemned Tunisia to the bottom of the table with no points. The Eagles of Carthage lost all three of their group-stage games.

A tense match between Japan and Sweden ended in a 1-1 draw. Daizen Maeda gave the Blue Samurai the lead just after the restart, but Anthony Elanga equalised soon after with a fine finish.

The point was enough for Japan to clinch second spot in the group with five points, one more than Sweden, who had to settle for third place at the end of the group stage.
