FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H final standings

Spain and Cape Verde have secured qualification from Group H.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is nearing the start of its knockout stages, with the final round of group stage games being played in double-headers across four days. Spain took on Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia faced Cape Verde in simultaneous kick-offs on June 26, with the results dictating the final Group H standings.

Spain sealed a nervy 1-0 win over Uruguay, confirming their status as the group champions with seven points. Alex Baena’s first-half goal proved to be the decider in Zapopan. However, the result condemned La Celeste to a third-placed finish with just two points.

Cape Verde, meanwhile, held firm for a historic goalless draw against Saudi Arabia. It was a momentous result for the debutants, as it propelled them to second place in the group standings with three points. The Green Falcons, meanwhile, finished bottom with two points.

Spain and Cape Verde have secured direct qualification to the Round of 32 stage, having finished in the top two spots at the end of the group stage.

As group winners, La Roja will face the Group J runners-up, who, at the moment, are Austria. That match will take place in Los Angeles on July 1. Cape Verde, meanwhile, will take on the Group J winners, who, at the moment, are Argentina. That game will take place on July 3 in Miami.

Uruguay, on the other hand, finished third with two points. Even though the eight best third-placed teams will qualify for the knockout stages, La Celeste will not be one of them due to their low points tally.

Saudi Arabia, also with two points, finished last due to their inferior goal difference.  As a result, the Asian side have been eliminated in the group stage for the third consecutive edition.
