France and Norway have secured qualification from Group I.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage is about to wrap up, with the final matchday being played in simultaneous double-headers across four days. On June 26, Norway took on France, while Senegal faced Iraq, with the results shaping the final Group I standings.

France sealed the top spot in style with a dominant 4-1 win over Norway as Ousmane Dembele netted a hat-trick. Thelo Asgaard scored a consolation strike for the Vikings, who finished second in the group with six points, three less than Les Bleus’ record of nine.

Senegal, meanwhile, secured a 5-0 win over Iraq. The Lions of Teranga climbed to three points but remained in third position. Iraq, meanwhile, finished rock bottom with zero points from their three group-stage games.

Norway and France had already sealed their places in the Round of 32 before the final matchday, with the Vikings and Les Bleus finishing in the top two.

As group winners, France will take on a third-placed team in their next match in New Jersey on June 30. Norway, meanwhile, will take on Ivory Coast in Arlington on June 30.

Senegal, with three points, will need to wait and see if they are among the eight best third-placed sides to qualify for the knockout stages. Their positive goal difference (+2) will be a big advantage.

Iraq, meanwhile, saw their return to the World Cup after 40 years come to an end. The Lions of Mesopotamia have been knocked out in the group stage.
