Matchday 11 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup included lots of drama, controversy, and goals. Here we retell what transpired over the four matches.

Lamine Yamal was reinstated to the starting lineup, and Spain went back to their fluent best (while he was on the pitch). La Roja scored four goals against Saudi Arabia to claim their first World Cup victory in 2026.

Belgium controlled for big portions of the game before being forced to a 0-0 draw with Iran after Nathan Ngoy was sent off in the 66th minute.

Cape Verde shocked Uruguay with a 2-2 draw, earning their second consecutive point in their World Cup debut campaign.

Egypt won their first World Cup match. All thanks to a spectacular second-half comeback that sent them to the top of Group G with four points, while New Zealand finished last.
