FIFA World Cup 2026 updated bracket after Germany vs Paraguay in Round of 32

The Round of 32 stage of the FIFA World Cup will end on July 3.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is currently in its knockout stages, with 32 of the best teams facing off in do-or-die fixtures. Paraguay became the latest team to seal their progress to the Round of 16, beating Germany 4-3 on penalty shootouts.
Julio Enciso put La Albirroja ahead in the 42nd minute with a composed finish, but their opponents equalised in the 54th minute through Kai Havertz. Jonathan Tah had a goal ruled out in extra time, with the match ending 1-1.
As a result, the game went to penalty shootouts. Kai Havertz saw his opening kick saved by Orlando, who saved another kick from Nick Woltemade. However, Antonio Sanabria and Fabian Balbuena missed for the South American side, keeping the shootout alive.
Jonathan Tah then missed the first sudden-death penalty, blazing his shot over the bar. Jose Canale converted his spot kick, securing Paraguay’s spot in the last 16 alongside Canada and Brazil. This marks a triumphant result for Gustavo Alfaro’s side, which returned to the World Cup after a gap of 16 years. Meanwhile, the result also marked Germany’s first-ever penalty shootout loss in the World Cup.
