OGC Nice's Francesco Farioli set to become next Ajax manager

Fariolo’s Nice side finished fifth this season
Francesco Farioli, manager of OGC Nice, is on his way to becoming the next coach of Ajax, a legendary team in the Netherlands. The former Dutch champions appear interested in Farioli, as evidenced by the fact that Graham Potter turned down a move to Ajax. Several names have been linked to the team.
According to Sky Italia (via TMW), Ajax believes Farioli is the best candidate for the position. Parties are in close negotiations to ensure that the Italian joins the giants of Amsterdam, but before Farioli could join the team, Nice would need to release him; they have not yet decided to do so for the summer.
Farioli’s departure from the Ligue 1 team would thus require Ajax and Nice to reach a compensation deal. Ajax’s decision to choose the manager—who will be the first non-Dutch manager in the club’s history—was largely influenced by the Italian’s approach at Nice. The previous 22 managers of Ajax were all Dutch.

Who is Francesco Farioli?
Francesco Farioli, a former student of Roberto De Zerbi, is a key figure in the new Italian coaching school. Farioli, who is 34 years old, coached De Zerbi in goalkeeping for the Italian teams Benevento and Sassuolo before taking over as manager of Nice.
Ever since that reprimand, Farioli has progressed quickly through the coaching ranks. He took control Turkish team Fatih Karagümrük at the age of just 31, and he then moved on to Alanyaspor (see below). There, in the Turkish season of 2021/22, he finished an amazing fifth.
In the summer of 2023, he moved to a club in Ligue 1 that has previously acted as a springboard for future coaches, such as Patrick Vieira. Farioli led Nice to second place in the Ligue 1 standings after 20 games in his inaugural season, narrowly behind reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
