The Turkish side are willing to match Messi’s Miami salary.

Despite playing in America, Lionel Messi continues to attract interest from European clubs, and now one of the top European sides has expressed their desire to sign the 2022 World Cup winner.

Galatasaray are exploring the chances to bring the 38-year-old to the club on a stunning four-month loan deal during the MLS break.

With the MLS regular season concluded in October, the playoffs are set to continue until December. If his side secures a place in the MLS Cup final, then Lionel Messi might continue to play until December 6.

However, following that MLS season, which won’t resume until March, the former Barcelona forward could secure a short-term loan move that would allow him to continue his fitness until the 2026 World Cup.

According to FotoMac, which is the most prominent sports site in Turkey, has reported that Galatasaray are finding ways to bring the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner to Turkey for four months.

The report further adds that Lionel Messi might be open to moving to Europe in order to remain fit for the World Cup. Moreover, Lionel Messi currently pockets an eye-watering £15million annually in Miami, with his salary bankrolled by Adidas and Apple, which the Turkish side is open to covering at least a portion of that salary if they were to take him on.

Galatasaray have a history of signing big names in past

Galatasaray would be keen to match his salary standards if they are to pull one of the greatest signings in their transfer history, given they have already displayed their financial muscle in the previous transfer window after luring Victor Osimhen for a Turkish record of £65m, handing him reported wages of £250,000 a week.

They have also added former Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane and handed him a lucrative deal worth around £7.6m a year, and Ilkay Gundogan also arrived at the club in the summer and currently makes £4m a year.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi’s arrival will be a cherry on top for the club as the Argentine has been in fine goalscoring form this season and has recorded 40 strikes in all competitions, nearly doubling his total of 23 from the 2024 campaign.
