Die Mannschaft crashed out of the World Cup in the Round of 32 stage.

Germany suffered a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Paraguay in their Round of 32 clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on June 29. The score was 1-1 after regulation time, but La Albirroja won the resulting shootout 4-3.

Julio Enciso put the South American side ahead in the 42nd minute, but Kai Havertz equalised soon after the restart. Jonathan Tah found the back of the net in extra time, but it was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper, Orlando Gill.

The match eventually moved to penalties. Gill saved penalties from Havertz and Nick Woltemade. Antonio Sanabria and Fabian Balbuena missed their kicks, keeping the shootout alive. Tah missed in sudden death, and Jose Canacle scored to clinch a win for La Albirroja.
