Nationalelf have won double the number of games than the Scots.

Germany made a blistering start as hosts of Euro 2024, thrashing Scotland 5-1 in the opening game in Munich. The rampant Germans raced into a 3-0 lead before halftime through goals from Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and a Kai Havertz penalty after Ryan Porteous was sent off for Scotland.

Substitute Niclas Fullkrug added a fourth in the second half before Antonio Rudiger’s deflected own goal gave the Scots a consolation. But Emre Can struck late to round out a comprehensive victory for the three-time European champions.

The heavy defeat continues Scotland’s struggles against Germany, with their head-to-head record now standing at 9 wins for Germany, 5 draws, and 4 wins for Scotland from 18 meetings.

Their two nations have met six times before at European Championships, with Germany winning five and the other game ending level. Loan draw between two teams came way back in 2003.
