The Ghana national football team are on a poor run of form ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They have lost four of their last five matches. They will be under pressure for their first group stage outing against Panama on June 17.

They have already contested their two friendlies ahead of the mega competition. They first fell prey to Mexico and were then held to a draw by Wales. Their current form is concerning for them.

Carlos Queiroz will be looking to work on the strategies. They will first aim to get past the group stage. The best performance of the Ghana national football team came during the 2010 edition of the FIFA World Cup when they reached the quarterfinal.

The Black Stars are most likely to come up with a classic 4-3-3 lineup.

GK: Lawrence Ati-Zigi – FC St. Gallen

CB: Alexander Djiku – Spartak Moscow

He recently faced an injury during the 2025-26 campaign, but is now fully fit. Djiku is going to play a crucial role in the backline for Ghana.

Alexander Djiku will be a strong leader in the defence for his national team. The 31-year-old is calm and composed during tense situations. With his experience, Djiku is surely going to be a big addition.

LB: Gideon Mensah – AJ Auxerre

CM: Kwasi Sibo – Real Oviedo

Even though Real Oviedo have been demoted to the Spanish second division, Kwasi Sibo has found his way in the final 26-man squad of Ghana for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Although his presence in the final third is not very prominent, Sibo is great at winning the ball back for his team.
