After losing to Vancouver 3-1, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were eliminated from the Concacaf Champions Cup 2025.
After suffering 1-3 in the second leg of their semifinal encounter against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Chase Stadium, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami bid farewell to their ambitions of winning the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. Overall, they suffered a 5-1 loss.
The Herons’ goal going into the second-leg encounter was to score three goals or more in order to advance to the historic final. In that regard, they got off to a fast start and took the lead in the ninth minute thanks to a Barcelona-style move involving Messi, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba.
Despite appearing ready to maintain pressure on Vancouver, Javier Mascherano’s team lost steam in the second half. With goals from Pedro Vite (53′) and Brian White (51′), the Whitecaps took the lead again in less than three minutes. In the 71st minute, Sebastian Berhalter scored the third goal.

Despite not playing in the same league anymore, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are frequently compared by supporters. Ronaldo has won 34 trophies overall. He was also knocked out of the AFC Champions League Elite today.
