Messi led the Herons to the MLS Supporters’ Shield.

After defeating Columbus Crew to prevail in the MLS Supporters’ Shield for the first time, Inter Miami could advance to the FIFA Club World Cup.

With two goals from Lionel Messi in the 3-2 victory over Colombus Crew, Miami guaranteed topping MLS. They now will look to win the MLS Cup.

Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium may host the first game of the FIFA Club World Cup. Inter Miami are most likely to be approved as the host (USA) representative at the Club World Cup.

As the MLS Cup doesn’t end until December 7, there is uncertainty as to who will be chosen to represent the hosts at the Club World Cup, because the draw can happen before then.

Some people also think it’s more equitable to choose the top league finisher (Inter Miami) over the MLS Cup winner, which is yet to be decided. Inter Miami’s involvement is anticipated to be confirmed shortly, possibly this month.

The 12 stadiums that will host matches at the redesigned Club World Cup have been confirmed by FIFA, with the final scheduled for July 13 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Inter Miami are expected to compete against the best teams in the world when the competition starts on June 15. They, if chosen to play, will attempt to add this Cup trophy to their trophy cabinet following their victory in the MLS Supporters’ Shield.

The Club World Cup will also take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta), Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte), TQL Stadium (Cincinnati), Rose Bowl Stadium (Los Angeles), GEODIS Park (Nashville), Camping World Stadium (Orlando), Inter&Co Stadium (Orlando), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia), Lumen Field (Seattle), and Audi Field (Washington, D.C.), in addition to MetLife Stadium and Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL team Miami Dolphins.

After an illustrious career that has seen him win cups at Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and for his country, Argentina, Messi picked up a brace when Inter Miami beat Colombus Crew 3-2 on Wednesday, giving him another piece of trophy.
