Players who have scored the most goals in the Women’s Champions League

The 2023-24 UEFA Women’s Champions League is now left with just four teams. The likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain will battle it out in the upcoming semi-finals. With the semi-final first leg to kickstart on 20 April, the sides have much time to calibrate and put their best step forward.

The Women’s edition of the UEFA Champions League has been in place since the 2001–02 European football season. The French outfit Lyon are the most successful and will be looking to add the 9th title if they manage to reach the finals to be held in San Mamés stadium in Bilbao, Spain. In this article, we will go through the record goalscorers in this competition.

10. Nina Burger – 38 goals

In the tenth place, we have Nina Burger. She had managed to net a total of 38 goals in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in her playing days. Most of her career was spent at Austrian outfit SV Neulengbach. Her international career with Austria was also spectacular having scored 53 goals in 108 appearances.

9. Hanna Ljungberg – 39 goals

Just a goal lead over Burger keeps Hanna Ljungberg in the ninth position of this record goal scorers list of the female version of the UCL. Ljungberg used to play for Umeå IK at the club level and the Sweden national football team at the international stage. Umeå IK is her hometown club for which she played for 11 long years.

8. Kim Little – 42 goals

We now see Kim Little play for the Arsenal women’s senior team in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Little was signed from Melbourne City to the Gunners side. She has managed to score a total of 42 goals in the UCL competition.

7. Lotta Schelin – 42 goals

Another women’s footballer with a 42-goal tally in the Women’s Champions League. Lotta Schelin is a former Swedish player. Although her last club was FC Rosengård, Schelin had a prolific 8 years with Lyon.

6. Camille Abily – 43 goals

Camille Abily used to play in the Division 1 Féminine for Lyon. Before the eight years there, she had also spent another three between 2006 to 2009. Currently, Abily is the manager of the French national women’s team.

5. Marta – 46 goals

A six-time FIFA Player of the Year winner and an icon in Brazil, Marta impressively is 38 and still playing. In her UEFA Women’s Champions League career so far, the player has summed an impressive tally of 46 goals. Currently, she is associated with the side Orlando Pride who are based in Florida, United States.

4. Eugenie Le Sommer – 48 goals

The fourth place is capped at 48 goals currently. Eugénie Le Sommer can play as a second striker but her dominant positions are winger and attacking midfielder. The 34-year-old recorded her 400th appearance for Lyon just a week ago in the UEFA Women’s Champions League against Portuguese side Benfica.

3. Conny Pohlers – 48 goals

Conny Pohlers is currently tied with Le Sommer and also happens to have scored 48 goals so far. She is a former German footballer. Her last club before announcing retirement was VfL Wolfsburg.

2. Anja Mittag – 51 goals

A 2007 FIFA World Cup winner with the German national football team, Anja Mittag has also won the UCL title three times. The years of her European triumphs were 2005, 2009 and 2013. After quitting her playing career back in 2020, Mittag now functions as the assistant head coach of RB Leipzig’s women’s team.

1. Ada Hegerberg – 64 goals

In the UEFA Champions League, there is another Norwegian who is making a name irrespective of gender apart from Erling Haaland. While Haaland is running riots in the men’s UCL game, Ada Hegerberg dominates the all-time women’s scorers in the female version of the UCL competition.
