How Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen can win a treble this season?
It would be a major achievement for Die Werkself to secure a treble
Heroics from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen have been one of the most talked about stories of the 2023-24 season in the world of football. Led by Xabi Alonso who raised eyebrows all over the globe with his expert managerial skills, the club is close to ending an 11-year domination of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga by winning the league.
At the time of writing, Bayer Leverkusen have accumulated 76 points from 28 matches, winning 24, drawing four and losing none. They have set a new German record for having the longest unbeaten run, which currently stands at 41 games.
While the Bundesliga is almost done and dusted with their closest competitors FC Bayern Munich trailing by 16 points, Die Werkself will be aiming to secure an incredible treble of trophies by the end of the season. Here is a look at how Bayer Leverkusen can win a treble this season:
German Bundesliga
Bayer Leverkusen have left the competition behind after going unbeaten in the first 28 games of the season. Winning 24 of those games puts them comfortably in the lead, making them massive favourites to win their first-ever Bundesliga title.
Only eight games are left to play in the 2023-24 league campaign and it seems highly unlikely that Xabi Alonso’s men will let slip a 16-point lead. Guiding Bayer Leverkusen to the league title was one of the main reasons behind Alonso committing his future to the club amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

UEFA Europa League
Bayer Leverkusen have entered the quarter-final of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League, the second tier of the European club championship. Die Werkself is to play Premier League’s West Ham United for a place in the last four.
Xabi Alonso’s men are heavy favourites to remain unbeaten in the Europa League and lift it by the end of the season. Liverpool are said to be their biggest competition in the tournament, a team that former red Xabi Alonso would be wary of.
DFB Pokal
Bayer Leverkusen will be playing against Kaiserslautern in the final of the 2023-24 DFB Pokal on 25 May 2024 after demolishing Dusseldorf by 4-0 in the semi-final.
It is worth noting that Bayer Leverkusen have won the DFB Pokal only once which was back in 1993. It is hard to imagine Xabi Alonso’s men failing to win the tournament considering their form and slipping up in the final.
