Can Tuchel guide Bayern to the Champions League glory this season?

As the Champions League has reached its knockout stages, fans around the world have witnessed some dramatic results in the first leg. There is still a chance for either side to reach the semi-finals after the first leg finished 2-2 at Emirates Stadium.

In light of the disappointment Thomas Tuchel has experienced this season with Bayern Munich, having lost the league title to Bayer Leverkusen for the first time, he has decided to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Tuchel and Co will face the challenge of winning silverware in this competition but first have to win in this second leg match at Allianz Arena.

Let’s take a look at how Bayern Munich might lineup against Arsenal to change the course of the match in the second leg:

Bayern Munich Predicted Lineup: (Formation: 4-2-3-1)

GK: Manuel Neuer

In addition to his vast experience playing in knockout matches, Manuel Neuer hopes to prevent the Gunners from scoring goals by playing his part in this game. He has played six matches for Bayern in the Champions League this season keeping three clean sheets. Bayern came away with a point from Emirates because he made some spectacular saves.

RB: Konrad Laimer

The versatility of Konrad Laimer has enabled Thomas Tuchel to cope with injuries this season by using him in many positions. This season, he has made 36 appearances for the team, scoring one and setting another two for his teammates. He has played as a right-back, a centre back and as a central midfielder, which is his preferred position.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt

The Dutch International seems to have found its form at the right time after initially struggling to make it into the starting eleven. As a young 24-year-old, Matthijs de Ligt brings stability at the back with his experience. He has already smashed over 300 appearances in senior pro football. He has scored two goals so far this season in 25 appearances.

CB: Eric Dier

With years of experience playing in the top flight, Tuchel has trusted the former Tottenham player to shore up Bayern’s defence during big matches this season. Despite being an excellent aerial player and a hard tackler, Eric Dier is a good team player who is always telling others how to do their jobs well. He has yet to score for the team.

LB: Raphael Guerreiro

Raphael Guerreiro has a huge chance to establish himself in the starting eleven by delivering a masterclass in this match with Davies suspended; he has a golden chance to make a case for himself. Having already scored in the last match against Koln in the league, he will be high in confidence after putting in an impressive performance. He has 24 appearances to his name this season, scoring 3 goals.

CM: Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich has become an integral part of the team with his performance for the Bavarian side in the last couple of seasons. He brings creativity to the side and also orchestrates the general play of the team. Good at defending the backline and winning the ball in Central Park, Kimmich will be aiming to play another important role in this match. This season he has 9 assists to his name.

CM: Leon Goretzka

The Germany International has developed an impressive partnership with Kimmich at the heart of midfield. He has 4 goals to his name this season while also providing 8 assists to his teammates. While he is good at winning the ball back, Goretzka also helps the team in setting up counterattacks as well as helping the defence in limiting the threat.

AM: Thomas Müller

Thomas Müller is accustomed to this kind of situation having played over a decade for Bayern Munich. He has seen ups and downs during this time but what has stood out is his professionalism to give the best for the team every time he is on the pitch. This season he has 5 goals to his name while providing 8 assists to his teammates.

LW: Mathys Tel

Mathys Tel might fancy his chance in this match with Sane, Coman and Gnabry out injured. This season he has made 36 appearances for the team mostly from the bench scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists in the process. During these matches, he has looked a threat with him yet to reach his full potential.

RW: Jamal Musiala

Jamal Musiala, Bayern’s most influential player this term, will be in charge of helping the team win this game. He has already scored 12 goals for the team and has also assisted 7 times. As a result of his goals and assists, he makes a significant contribution to the Bayern team. If there is one player who can unlock the Gunners’ defence, it is him, as he can easily dribble past opponents.

ST: Harry Kane

This season, Harry Kane has led Bayern’s line perfectly, scoring 39 goals for the team while also providing 10 assists. In addition, Kane is currently the leading goal-scorer in the Champions League, which highlights his outstanding debut for Bayern. It remains to be seen if Kane is able to achieve Silverware this season.
