The midfielder is in high demand by many European clubs
Martin Zubimendi has downplayed rumours of a summer transfer and talked about his happiness at Real Sociedad in spite of increasing links to both Bayern and Arsenal.
The 25-year-old is in line to join Spain’s team for the Euros after enjoying another successful season in San Sebastian. A number of European powerhouses are reportedly lining up to recruit him.
Zubimendi’s contract includes a release clause worth €60 million (£52.6 million) that can be activated during the summer transfer window. This is one aspect of his appeal.
The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has long been a fan. The Gunners were originally connected to Declan Rice in January 2023, but they decided to shatter their team’s move record a few weeks later by acquiring him.
Even so, they are still interested because Jorginho and Thomas Partey might both depart the Emirates at the end of the current campaign to make room in the midfield.

Zubimendi has also been strongly linked to Bayern Munich; however, whether or not this interest persists will depend on who succeeds Thomas Tuchel, who has been vocal about the demand for an additional No. 6 player.
After reversing his decision to join the Catalans side, Zubimendi is thought to have been identified by Xavi as a major target for Barcelona, who has also become an option for his signing.
However, the midfielder claims he is happy at his current team and is not paying much heed to the growing chatter about his future at Real Sociedad.
When questioned about the rumours, Zubimendi informed the Spanish publication Marca:
‘They are just rumours, I am happy at Real Sociedad, it is like my home.
‘I cannot say that I will play my entire career at Real Sociedad, perhaps the club won’t want me to continue in the future. But I do not concern myself with these rumours.’
