The England international has become the most prominent figure at the club

Fans were waiting in line for four hours to get Jesse Lingard‘s No. 10 shirt at FC Seoul. The former Manchester United star Lingard has turned into a phenomenon in South Korea.

Following his release by Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023, the former England international spent many months as a free agent before making an unexpected transfer to Asia in February. After exercising patience in his search for a new team, Lingard is currently bound to a two-year deal in Seoul.

Although it is unclear what effect he will have with his K-League employers on the pitch, he is undoubtedly making waves off it. The Athletic details how fans waited in line for blocks to get a Lingard jersey ahead of his home debut, with a temporary store exclusively carrying his No. 10 shirt.

It has also been disclosed that FC Seoul’s average attendance is already more than double what it was during the previous season and that tickets for his competitive debut, which was held away at Gwangju, sold out in two minutes and thirty seconds. The team has also benefited from a surge in social media, being the first Korean team to have over 100,000 YouTube subscribers.

After dedicating a significant amount of time to an individual training regimen, Lingard has expressed that he is already experiencing “love” in his new home and is currently working his way up to match sharpness. Although the 31-year-old may have faded into obscurity in England, he is currently a major draw in the Far East.

But according to K League United, Lim Young-woong’s halftime show was mostly responsible for that day’s record attendance.Lingard will be hoping to make an early impression on FC Seoul’s starting lineup. Next Saturday, the six-time K-League winners will welcome Jeju United, an island team, at home.
