Iran’s Full FIFA World Cup 2026 Schedule: Dates, kick-off times & venues

Iran’s training camp base for this tournament will be in Mexico.
The FIFA World Cup is currently preparing for its newest edition, which is set to be played in less than a month. The tournament will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada, with matches played simultaneously.
As a record 48 nations are gearing up for the competition, teams are ultimately set to fight for the most coveted trophy in world football.
Iranian national football team is widely regarded as one of football’s most competitive nations. While having an excellent continental record, Iran are yet to establish themselves on the global stage. Led by manager Amir Ghalenoei, Iran will be aiming to make an impact after a disappointing outing in the previous World Cup.
Despite immense geopolitical tensions, Team Melli have confirmed to play and has confirmed a 30-man preliminary squad for the tournament.
Iran’s group and who are the opponents?

Team Melli will be competing in Group G at the World Cup, regarded as one of the most competitive groups of the competition. The group will comprise Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand.
Belgium, after failing in the previous edition, are set to make a comeback, finishing first in their qualifying group. Egypt, qualifying after topping their CAF qualifier group, is set to feature for the first time since 2018.
New Zealand gained their place after securing the first-ever direct qualification spot allocated to the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

Amir Ghalenoei’s men are placed in Group G of the FIFA World Cup 2026, alongside Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand.

Due to geopolitical tensions, Iran has set up their base camp in Mexico, with the team only travelling to the US for their respective matches.
