Iraq predicted lineup vs Norway for FIFA World Cup 2026

Iraq will play in their second-ever FIFA World Cup.
Iraq were not always certain of their qualification to the tournament. It even led to the country’s governing bodies being frightened enough to fire manager Jesus Casas after a defeat to Palestine in March 2025.
Graham Arnold, an Australian, was named in his place two months later. He took over a team that was on the verge of elimination from the AFC qualifications. But he guided the group through the third, fourth, and fifth rounds and into the inter-confederation playoffs.
Usood al-Rafidayn secured their place in the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986, thanks to a 2-1 win over Bolivia in the playoffs in March.
Iraq come to North America having played three friendlies since their victory over Bolivia. They defeated Andorra 1-0 in May, drawing 1-1 with Spain on June 4, and losing 2-0 to Venezuela four days later.
It must be mentioned that they have only played eight teams from outside their confederation since November 2022, winning twice and losing four.

Usood al-Rafidayn’s custodian, Jalal Hassan, is also the team’s captain. While the 35-year-old may be past his prime, he can still be trusted between the sticks.
At Boston Stadium, centre-backs Zaid Tahseen and Rebin Sulaka will be expected to be at the heart of Usood al-Rafidayn’s defence. Midfielders Amir Al-Ammari and Zidane Iqbal must also step up to defend.
In the attack, it won’t be surprising to see striker Aymen Hussein complemented by Ibrahim Bayesh, Ali Jasim, and Ali Al-Hamadi.
