Inter Miami face Atlanta United in the MLS Cup play-off.

Lionel Messi and his team are preparing themselves for their big match against Atlanta United in the MLS Cup play-off after winning the MLS Supporter’s Shield.

Messi’s Inter Miami broke the record for most points in the Major League Soccer regular season and won the trophy with 76 points, which was the highest points tally breaking the New England Revolution mark of 73 points.

Their focus will now turn towards another trophy which is the MLS Cup and Messi’s company will hope to sweep that too. They will open the trophy quest in the Round One series against Atlanta United in a play-off.

The former Barcelona forward enjoyed a productive regular season, producing  20 goals and 16 assists in just 19 appearances after coming on the back of an ankle injury.

He will now be prepared to lead the Herons to the MLS Cup as Inter Miami will be one of the favorites to lift the trophy given the performance they have put in during the regular season.

Will Lionel Messi play tonight for Inter Miami?

Messi is certainly going to play as his presence will be a big boost for Herson given the former Paris Saint-Germain forward has been a big difference maker and it seems he has picked up his form at the right time. After scoring a hat-trick for the national team he once again produced another treble for Inter Miami against New England Revolution.

Hopefully, Messi is going to be playing efficiently because his playmaking skills have been crucial for Inter Miami in numerous games that have helped them rescue a game that they were losing.

The 37-year-old has finished the regular season with 20 goals in just 19 matches, which underlines how productive he has been for Inter Miami this season.

He will hope to add more goals during the play-off matches as Herons prepare for some tough games in the MLS Cup.
