IShowSpeed to ISL? YouTube sensation considering moving to India to become a professional footballer

IShowSpeed visited India during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023!
YouTube sensation IShowSpeed, who has over 44 million subscribers and over 41 million followers on Instagram, is considering a move to India to become a professional football player.
In one of his live streams, IShowSpeed said, “I should play for Mumbai. I can become a professional footballer in India.” It was in response to a mural, where footballing fans in India painted a mural putting Speed on the wall beneath a bridge in India.
Speed enjoys massive crowd support and his streaming fandom in India is massive. In this article, we decode Speed’s India connection and how realistic his dream is to become a professional football player.
Speed’s last visit to India was an instant hit
The American youtuber, who also happens to be an avid sports enthusiast visited India during the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023. During his visit to India, he met several Indian celebrities and collaborated with them. Some notable name includes Daler Mahendi, Carry Minati, MC Stan and many more.
He also attended the high octane India vs Pakistan fixture in Ahmedabad and also notably met the then BCCI secretary, Jay Shah. He was seen enjoying his time in India, hopping around the streets of Mumbai, hanging out with fans to playing cricket with young kids.
He was seen wearing a Virat Kohli jersey and was so excited to watch him play live. His visit garnered a lot of praise and attention for his local connections and affection for Indian culture and fans.
Speed has played alongside footballing legends
Speed has featured in various football games across the world. Most of them have been charitable events to raise funds for charitable acts. In 2024 and 2025, he played the Match for Hope in Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Qatar. He rubbed shoulders with Eden Hazard, Andres Iniesta and David Silva.
Recently, Speed also played in the Sidemen Charity Match in Wembley Stadium in London alongside other YouTubers like Logan Paul and Mr Beast.
Though his dream to become a professional footballer and play for Mumbai may be far away from reality, his visit to India to promote ISL, IWL and other domestic tournaments can bring global attention and help Indian football massively in terms of popularity and outreach.
