Jason Wilcox close to becoming new technical director at Manchester United
Jason Wilcox only wanted Man United despite Liverpool’s interest
As was reported yesterday, there are no discussions or negotiations going on between Jason Wilcox and Liverpool.
In order to participate in the INEOS initiative, Wilcox has consented to become the new technical director of Manchester United. No discussions with other clubs are scheduled; it’s only a matter of “when.” The conditions of the club’s official proposal of recompense for the former England and Blackburn Rovers winger have not yet been finalised with Southampton.A source claims that the Championship team is dissatisfied with the approach’s timing as they try to get promoted back to the Premier League. Russell Martin, the manager of Southampton, stated following Monday’s 3-2 loss to Ipswich:
“I would say give me at least 10 minutes to get over the disappointment of tonight and we’ll chat at some point this week and I’m sure I’ll have more for you.

“I’ve not spoken to the club [about it]. You know my feelings on Jason, and I’ll have a chat with him after. I’ve just had a text saying how proud he was of the performance. The rest is once I’m told I’ll let you know.”
Wilcox needs to be at United before the transfer window for the summer season opens.Newcastle United’s unwillingness to lower their demands has caused their attempt to stall in the appointment of Dan Ashworth as director of football.Manchester United wants to prevent a scenario similar to Ashworth’s, where he is suspended from work for a notice period while on gardening leave, with full pay. Wilcox is presently out of work.
They are optimistic that agreements can be made with Southampton and Newcastle. Omar Berrada, the new CEO of Manchester United, is familiar with Wilcox from their time working at Manchester City. The 53-year-old Wilcox handled the youth programme at the Etihad Stadium before his summer 2023 relocation to Southampton. He played for Blackburn in the 1995 Premier League title game, and from 1996 to 2000, he was awarded three England caps.
